A huge congratulations to Kate Page, Fooditude’s Head of Impact, on being named one of Planet Mark’s Sustainability Changemakers Award winners. Following her Acorn Award win, it’s great to see Kate’s work recognised again.

Kate has grown Fooditude’s Impact function, making sustainability part of how the business operates. Working with teams across the company, she’s supported team members in understanding complex issues, finding practical solutions and seeing how their decisions can benefit both the business and the environment. Kate’s work has gone beyond our own teams to include partnerships with suppliers and clients, community projects and conversations with those across the industry.

Bringing teams together to tackle food waste

Kate has been leading Fooditude’s Tackling Food Waste initiative, supporting teams from across the business to come together to measure and reduce waste, from our central production kitchen to our client sites. By seeing where food was being wasted and why, colleagues could make changes to ordering, portion sizes and kitchen processes.

In 2025, the work earned Fooditude the Employee Engagement Award at the Planet Mark Awards. It was an incredible team effort and a great example of how involving people in a shared goal can lead to tangible outcomes.

Making lower-carbon menus part of our work

Kate has also helped us shape our approach to menu development. She joined a panel discussion to support the launch of the Low-Carbon Menus report and its accompanying chef toolkit, developed by PhD researcher Andrea Zick.

The toolkit gives chefs practical advice on creating lower-carbon menus, and we’re happy that we’ve been able to incorporate its framework into our own menu development. It has helped our chefs consider the environmental impact of the food we serve when planning menus.

Giving back to our local community

More recently, Kate brought colleagues together for a litter pick around our central production kitchen in South Bermondsey. Within an hour, our teams collected 23.5kg of rubbish, with 15kg set aside for recycling. What stood out about this initiative was the response from people in the neighbourhood, many of whom stopped to thank the team.

It was a small act that made a visible difference to those around us and a lovely chance for colleagues to spend time together doing something positive for their local community.
